Normally a pipe has two parts, a bowl and a mouth-piece, except for a clay pipe, which only has one. Ignoring the KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid) principle completely, this pipe has no fewer than eleven parts, all worked by hand and/or fitted. To complicate matters even more, mopane is not only hard, but very tough, making it extremely difficult to shape and sand.
