There is no satisfactory translation for the Afrikaans word “knewel”. The best I could find is “whopper”, but that has somewhat of a negative connotation.

“Leviathan”? “Burly”? “Kyk so ‘n knewel van ‘n jong man”. “Look at that athletic (big boned) (healthy) (muscular) young man”?

As I said. there is no satisfactory translation.
